(P ÷ 100) × X = Result

Meaning, convert the percentage into decimal by dividing it by 100, then multiply by the number. This answer will tell you how much P% of X is.

In other words, to work out 25% of 80:

(25 ÷ 100) × 80 = 0.25 × 80 = 20

Thus, 25% of 80 is 20.

The other uses are many. A typical scenario that you might face while shopping: 15% of discount on a $50 item. The calculator gives you that 15% of 50 is 7.5, so you are saving $7.50.
